Hello, Back Again…. What's To Come… and…. Vichy Mineral 89
Hello… I’m back again. I started a blog similar to this a
couple of years ago and it didn’t work out. I didn’t have enough time to give
it and it ended up stagnant with no new posts in no time at all. I’ve been
thinking about starting again for a little while now that I have more spare
time and yesterday I was given the push to start; someone said to me “your skin
looks great, what have you been doing?” …. We proceeded to talk about new
products that I had been trying and she wanted to know all about them. So I
thought well if she wants to know I’m sure other people do to and if sharing
my knowledge helps one person to find something they like I will feel like I
have achieved something.
So a little background into my skincare addiction…. Back
when I was 14 I was using a Nivea foaming facial wash and Nivea moisturiser, I
used these for a good couple of years and they kept my spots at bay, until one
day I started to react to the moisturiser. My skin would burn after applying it-
thinking back now the issue was more likely to be the stripping of my skin the
foaming cleanser was doing but that’s for another post. My mum then took me to
Debenhams and we looked at the different moisturisers and took samples from the
various counters for me to try. I eventually settled on Clarins Hydra Matte
lotion (this is still something I go back to and I will mention this in a
future post, Clarins has since always been a go to brand when other things don’t
seem to be working or I need to go back to basics that I can trust) and from
then on the obsession began. I started to read about different products, ingredients
and tried a variety of items in the Clarins range. This then grew, and I started
to try products from other brands. I then found Caroline Hirons, Ruth Crilly,
Nadine Baggott and reading and listening to what they had to say made me want
to know about and try even more.
I have combination skin (although I’m not a massive fan of
putting skin in a category as everyone is different) one day it can be oily the
next day dry or both on the same day on different parts of my face so maintain a
balance is essential. So that’s a bit of background on how this all came about.
So the plan is for me to share skincare tips, advice, and
reviews on products I’m loving – I don’t want to write negative reviews so this
is just going to be a place for things that I like and think you will like too.
I may criticise aspects of a product or highlight things that could be improved
but won’t write about something I’m not going to use.
Now to the product that has triggered these recent comments
about my skin and triggered this initial post.
Vichy Mineral 89
I had been watching Nadine Baggott’s video on best beauty
buys of 2017 and she was discussing the use of Hyaluronic Acid serums and how
this will be a big ingredient this year. I had been looking for a Hyaluronic
based serum for a few weeks now as this winter seems to have hit my skin harder
than ever and left it feeling very dehydrated and we know that Hyaluronic Acid
is basically a moisture magnet with the ability to hold 1000x its own molecule
size in water. Mineral 89 by Vichy was one of the products mentioned by Nadine
and I spotted in Boots at the weekend so thought it was worth a try.
This fits into my morning routine after the cleanse and acid
tone and before, Spritz and Moisturiser stages. This allows it to then help to
lock in the additional layers of moisture put on top. The product is extremely
light and feels like a water/gel which absorbs into the skin within seconds.
Vichy claim the product “hydrates and plumps your skin with moisture”
now this I can attest to, it definitely does. The day I had received the
comment on the way my skin was looking was only after 2 applications and usually
I don’t see results this quickly but there really was. My skin looks smooth and
had a dewy healthy glow to it (not a shiny look). Only time will tell as to how
this product will affect my skin in the long run and if I will see lasting
effects but so far so good and I will keep you updated as I use this. I think
it is definitely going to be one for long car journey and flights as air conditioning
really does dehydrate the skin.
Personally I think the product would be suitable for anyone
from the driest of skin to the oiliest who need moisture without adding extra
oil. This is also suitable for sensitive skins as there are only 11 ingredients
– I like that they haven’t added extra ingredients that aren’t needed to this. The
packaging also gets a thumbs up. It’s a great pump bottle that you can see through,
so you know when you are running out. Only minor complaint could be that its
glass so may be heavy for travelling. I think this is a great product though
and can be found for less than £20 at a number of retailers which is great for
a Hyaluronic based serum.
That’s it for this first post. Hope you have enjoyed
reading. There will be more to come very soon.
