Liquid Gold; A Factory Reset for the Skin

Ok so far I’m not doing too well at keeping to regular posts. But I’ve had another burst of inspiration after raving about this product again. Anyone that knows me will be familiar with it as it is my go to skin saviour for almost every problem.

So what is it?... Alpha H Liquid Gold is a glycolic acid based solution that also contains Licorice and silk proteins. It’s a liquid solution that you sweep over the face after cleansing and if you are using it properly you don’t follow with anything else! Yes, nothing else on top just liquid gold and then off to bed you go. This can be done 3 times a week, every other night.

Before I go onto say any more about the product I think it’s important to ensure you understand about the skins acid mantle this is the outer layer of skin that protects lower levels from bacteria and it does this by being acidic. The skin is happiest when it is at a PH level of around 5.5. Many skin conditions can be caused by the PH level being unsettled and this often includes redness and sensitivity.

Alpha H Liquid Gold has a low PH of about 3 and by dropping the skin to such a low PH it sends the skin to work and over night it effectively has its own work out fighting its way back up to the happy level of 5.5. It actually is like sending your skin to the gym. When you apply the product there is a tingling sensation, I like this, you know its working and I’d be disappointed if there wasn’t that liquid gold sensation. The results of the skin being stimulated at these lower levels is a fresher, healthier looking complexion. It boosts hydration on the skin and promotes collagen production and the glycol acid exfoliates dead skin cells. The product can be used to treat pigmentation, sun damage, acne, premature ageing and to be honest with you anyone with a face would see benefits from this product.

This is the only product that I have noticed results with after one application and I really did have my “this is liquid gold moment”. I love this packaging that the product was shipping in last year and think it sums up the product perfectly.

“People ask all of the time “what is liquid gold love? It’s the feeling you get when you look in the mirror and like what you see… when you get told you are beautiful with no makeup on… when your skin looks newer that the pair of heels you bought yesterday… Liquid gold confidence is the sexiest think you can wear. Start your own liquid gold love affair today.”

I never tire of hearing Michelle Doherty, the director of Alpha H tell the story of how it all began and how the name behind liquid gold came about. There is a great podcast of the Emma Guns show where she interviews Michelle that you should definitely listen to. I’ll put a link below.

I first started using it about 5 years ago and at the time my main issue was spots and blemishes. After one application these had reduced in redness and started to reduce in size. I continued to use the product but about 6 months ago I stopped. Not for any particular reason, I just had a lot of new products I was trying and testing, and it didn’t make it back into my routine until about 6 weeks ago. I tried a new Salicylic acid-based serum. My skin didn’t agree with this, it began to over produce oil, was red, sensitive and really could be best described as volcanic it was so sore and reactive. I remembered a comment I had heard about Liquid Gold where it was described as “a factory reset for your skin” and so I decided to try it again and see if it could help my skin. The tingle was maybe a little stronger than when my skin is in a good way but there was so stinging or pain. Even though my skin was in such a sore and sensitive state I could see an immediate improvement the next morning. The heat and redness was reduced and over the next 3 or 4 applications healthy smooth skin was restored. I have used it every other night since and I’m going to be strict with myself to keep it in my routine from now on. I mean there is no excuse, cleanse your skin and wipe liquid gold on. It’s simple! Just make sure the cleanser isn’t foaming and you are cleansing properly. No wipes! No micellar water unless you are using to remove makeup before carrying out a thorough cleanse of the skin (more to come on cleansing).

If I could only ever recommend or own one skin care product this really would be it!

Hope you have enjoyed reading.

James :)
